Board Officers

Karen Brandner – President
Currently Director of Tennis at The Broadmoor, Karen was ranked in the top 10 in the Intermountain section as a junior player. She played collegiate tennis at the University of Denver. Karen was the founding president of PPCTA in 1997 and served on USTA Colorado District Board for ten years. She started as a tennis professional at the Broadmoor in 1994 and has served as the Director of Tennis since 2005.

Richard Beard – Vice President
Richard is the Head Tennis Professional at The Club at Flying Horse. He is USPTA certified and has extensive background in building programs in hotel and private club settings. Richard played college tennis at the University of Colorado. Following graduation he played on the Professional Circuit, traveling throughout the United States, as well as Canada, Europe, africa, and the South Pacific.

Theresa Fitts – Treasurer
Theresa serves as the Director of Alumni Relations at the Colorado Springs School. She is an educator, tennis advocate and mom of a previous junior national tennis player. She is passionate about tennis for juniors and advocates for programs that include youth in tennis.
Dirk is the Chief Executive Officer of Medical Voyce Multimedia LLV. He maintains a life-long passion for tennis which provided him the opportunity to play professionally, as well as coach at the professional, collegiate and prep-school levels.
Tom is a life long tennis player and strong advocate for public tennis in the Colorado Springs area. He works as an independent financial advisor.

Jim McPherson
Jim is owner and manager of the Colorado Springs Racquet Club. Jim has been a member of the board since its inception in 1997. Jim has sponsored numerous tournaments which have raised money for PPCTA’s programs.

Augie Mendoza
Augie serves as Senior Executive for Program Development for the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region. He has served with the YMCA for 25 years. Prior to working with the YMCA in Colorado Springs, Augie served as the National Director for Sports for the YMCA of the USA where he also served on the USOC Board of Directors. He is an avid tennis enthusiast and has coached National Junior League Tennis and high school tennis in San Antonio as well as teach tennis at Southern Hills CC in Tulsa and a private athletic club in new Jersey. Augie desires to see kid’ lives impacted in a positive way through tennis.

Mildred Galbreath
Currently a teacher in Colorado Springs D-11. Mildred has experience as the Director of the Urban League’s Child Development Center and as an instructor for numerous youth-related programs. She is passionate about providing programming for at-risk youth and brings her extensive volunteer experience to PPCTA’s Board.

Carlton Brooks
Carlton is the Executive Director Human Resource Services Pikes Peak Community College. He has been active in numerous community organizations as a board member and volunteer. Carlton played tennis for his college team and is interested in making the sport accessible to children in all parts of our community.
Staff

Anthony Weber – Director of Tennis City of Colorado Springs
Anthony is contracted through the PPCTA to provide tennis programming at the public courts. Anthony began playing tennis through the same Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation programs. He was ranked #4 in the State of Colorado, # 10 Inter-mountain and played Division I tennis at Lamar University in Beaumont TX. Anthony is also the assistant tennis coach at Colorado College for both men’s and women’s teams. He is Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) certified tennis professional and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. Programming information can be found at www.COStennis.com

Kim Davis – Woodman Valley/Foothills Pro
Kim is the Foothills Swim and Racquet Club Director of Tennis. She also operates tennis programming at the public park at Woodman Valley and Foothills Elementary. Kim is a certified professional at the highest testable level (P1) with the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). Lori Kiser – Foothills Pro
Lori serves as Foothills Swim and Racquet Club Junior Team Coach and runs junior programs at Foothills Elementary. Lori is a P1 certified professional and has over fifteen years experience as a professional. Lori played high school tennis at Wheat Ridge High School in Denver and collegiate tennis at the University of Northern Colorado.
